| Abstract: | Often history overwhelms and distorts the destinies of States, Empires, domains, leaving a trace of itself in what still remains as an authentic testimony, without filters, of that past that belongs to all. Venice is an unattended treasure of its past, its glory, its greatness in the ancient world but that still belongs to us as never before and that indeed, right in the face of the fragilities of the present becomes a new, timeless strength. In this huge treasure chest of testimonies and memories there is a particular value in the presence of a very particular School (as particular is its whole history...), the result of a historical moment in which Venice, perhaps as never before, began to fear for its future... and for its role in the seas : it is the moment of the war against the Turks, which now more than ever Venice cannot be slow to face, also under the pressure of pope and emperor. |
