Ky hulumtim përqendrohet në trajtimin e konceptit "identiteti evropian" i parë në krahasueshmëri dhe në raport me konceptin "identiteti kombëtar". Këto raporte do të trajtohen në një truall studimor të veçantë, në Kosovë. Klasës politike të këtij vendi, krahas detyrave të tjera emergjente të cilat kanë lindur që nga pavarësia në vitin 2008, i është bërë e nevojshme të mendojë edhe për çështjen e identitetit. Kjo po ndodh në një kohë kur koncepti i identitetit evropian po merr kuptime dhe shtresëzime të reja për t'iu përgjigjur në mënyrë të drejtpërdrejt ndryshimit që po pëson Evropa që pas fuqizimit të Unionit Evropian. Kur merremi me identitetin evropian, vecanërisht kur i referohemi historisë, traditave dhe fateve të përbashkëta, referencat më të shpeshta i marrim nga koncepti i identitetit kombëtar. Erika Harris shpjegon arsyen sepse diskutimi për një identitet evropian na çon në fushën e identitetit kombëtar: "Jemi në fushën e identiteve kolektive dhe veçanërisht identiteti kulturor na sjell diskutimin mbi format e reja të identitetit në Evropën bashkëkohore në fushën e studimeve nacionaliste". Përderisa shteti është burimi kryesor i identiteteve kolektive dhe aktualisht motori i historisë evropiane gjatë dy shekujve të fundit, një gjë e tillë është shumë normale. Në qoftë se Evropa është një tjetër kolektivitet dhe në qoftë se ky është një proces unifikimi dhe integrimi, supozojmë që procesi në vazhdim i Evropës duhet t'i përgjasojë historisë së formimit të identitetit kombëtar. Lëndë e këtij hulumtimi do të jetë, pra, analiza, si teorike, ashtu edhe praktike e procesit të krijimit të identitetit europian në raport dhe në përputhje me një identitet të ri ose të ristrukturuar kombëtar, identiteti kosovar. Qëllimi kryesor i këtij hulumtimi është trajtimi i teorive që kanë të bëjnë me procesin e formimit të identitetit dhe kombeve si edhe procesit të formimit të supra apo mbi-identiteteve, siç është rasti i identitetit
Abstract
This research will focus on the treatment of the concept "European identity" seen at the comparative level and in relation with the concept of "ethnic identity". This relation will be treated in a very specific area of study, Kosovo. The political class of this country, abreast with other urgent tasks that aroused since its independence in 2008, must think also about the identity. This is happening when the concept of the European identity is taking new understandings and stratifications and there exists the need to respond directly to the changes that are happening in Europe since the strengthening of the European Union. When we study the European identity, especially when we refer to the history, traditions and common destinity, the most often references come from the ethnic identity. Erika Harris explains the reason why the discussion for a European identity sends us to the field of ethnic identity: "We are in the field of the collectively identities and especially the cultural identity brings the discussion on the new forms of identity in the contemporary Europe on the national studies field". As the state is the main source of the collective identities and actually the engine of the European history during the last two centuries, such a conclusion is a normal one. If the Europe is another collectivity and if this is a unification and integration process, than we suppose that the next continuity process of Europe should be similar to the creation of the ethnic identity. The subject of this research will be the theoretical and practical analysis of the European identity creation process in relation and accordingly to a new or restructured ethnic identity, the Kosovar identity. The main goal of this research is the treatment of the theories that are related to the identity and nations formation process and also to the process of super identities, such as the European identity.
