| Class number: | 304.4 | Abstract: | "The balkans in the new millenium" - the new millennium as a new stage of human and social development, which represents the beginning of a new period of sociological and anthopological changes, a new chapter, which should be better than the past, different from the regional fragmentation that engendered the term "Balkanization" and Homo Balkanicus. In this context, this conference will treat the Balkans in correlation with neologism, Utopia, a country of ideal felicity and perfection, a place in which human society, natural conditions, etc.. are ideally shaped in order to have a complete contentment. Also, it is a place where the organizational structure, fosters a limited governmental involvement, which permits human creativity and achievement, where prosperity does not have to be forced, it just happens (D.Hager). So, today in the aftermath of the bloody century, the questions are whether the Balkans are heading towards EUtopia, prosperous Europe or kakostopia (worst place)? Are we going to Europeanize ourselves or balkanize the Europe? Are we on the right track and ready to Debalkanise the Balkans? Are the eurointegration processes bringing real changes, which are only formal, without any essence? | Contents note: | Debating ideas, ideals and democratic traditions in post-communism: a new approach to transition patterns in the Balkans; Regionalization of balkans, and transition; the political crisis in Macedonia and the relations with its neighbors; A critical assessment of liberalism before and after 1989: the case of Romania; The role of the president of the Republic of Macedonia in promoting interfaith dialog; Human rights and conflict resolution concept in the republic of Macedonia; The impact of the crisis on the EU perspective of the new western Balkans: the tough way from 'Balkanisation' to 'Europeanisation'; In search of explanation for institutional change during European union enlargement: applying contingency theory to the study of local public organisations in south- eastern Europe; Communication and Albanian culture in step with Europeanization; The status of the Albanian language and its official use in Macedonia; the socio- political changes, and active employment policies in Kosovo; Sociology of post-conflict societies in western Balkan; The discrimination attitudes of the students on the basis of ethnicity in the ethnically mixed schools; The role of political parties in Kosovo in the process of policy- making (after the independence); Promoting diversity in Macedonian society through state institutions, tools and instruments; Democratic transition of eastern European countries with special look in Macedonia; Intrinsic motivators as important factors of motivation in management of human resources in Kosovo; Peace building, conflict resolution and conditions for reconciliation: in narratives after the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina; | Record link: | https://library.seeu.edu.mk/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=16642 |
