InnovationClass number: 370 Abstract: Është thënë se nëse ne si individë duhet ta përcaktojmë se cila është marrëdhënia jonë me të mirën, “ne në mënyrë të pa shmangshme duhet të kuptojmë jetët tona në formë narrative, si ‘kërkesë’ “(Taylor, 1989, fq. 52). Për mua gjithashtu, pavarësisht ose mbase për shkak të ndarjes dhe relativizmit të kohës sonë, del se ne duhet të arrijmë konceptin për të mirën i cili do të ndikojë në drejtimin e jetëve tona. Prandaj, esetë në Zgjimi i Imagjinatës mund të lexohen si rrëfim në krijim. Ne si udhërrëfyes do të duhej ta përshtatim veten për jetën si nënpunës apo funksionar, nëse nuk do ta kishim në mendje një kërkesë për një gjendje më të mirë të gjërave për ata të cilët i mësojmë dhe për botën të cilën të gjithë e ndajmë. Thjeshtë nuk është e mjaftueshme për ne të riprodhojmë mënyrën se si janë gjërat. Tani në vitet e mesme të jetës sime, për sa i përket fazave e shoh shkrimin tim si kërkim, ndërsa "fazat", sikur që Søren Kierkegaard i ka vendosur “në mënyrat e jetës” (1940). Kërkimi më përfshin mua si femër, si mësuese, si nënë, si qytetare, si Nju Jorkeze, si artdashëse, si aktiviste, si filozofe, si një amerikane e bardhë e klasës së mesme. Pra, as unë e as rrëfimi im nuk mund të kem as një fije të vetme ndikimi.
