Abstract
The mission of education is to cultivate generations, who will be useful citizens of the society. A generation different from other generations is the net generation, who are also known as digital natives, because they are very familiar with the new technology. The aim of the present study is to investigate how similar our students are with representatives of the net generation in other countries and how their thinking skills could be developed by using different teaching strategies and tools such as online - teaching, the Internet, ICT and social networks. The participants of this research were 1436 high school students and 214 teachers of those schools. Data for the study was collected through questionnaire survey conducted among high school students of Tetovo, Skopje, Gostivar, Kicevo and Struga. A questionnaire was also applied to teachers of the students that were surveyed. In this way it is possible to distinguish the differences between the generations, as well as differences between teachers with different experiences. The other research instrument used was the asynchronous online teaching experiment applied with the III year students. This study proves, the hypothesis that online teaching increases student success in high school mathematics. It also proves the hypothesis that the application of social networks in teaching does not depend on gender of students, class of students or the success of students. The other hypotheses prove that during this research the hypothesis that the implementation of online teaching in high schools do not depend on the gender of the teacher, the school's profile or the experience of teachers. Results of the study suggest that online teaching increases student success and develops their thinking skills therefore it is recommended that social networks should be used as teaching tools.

Record link: https://library.seeu.edu.mk/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=18088 Copies
