Abstract: | Since the first edition of this book was published in 1998, the world has changed in significant ways. Social life, both here and abroad, has become more polarized, hierarchical and conflicted. Inequalities have become deeper. These are precisely the issues addressed by critical social theories which have become even timelier. I assess the impact of these changes on critical social theories in my new concluding chapter. |
