Abstract: | The Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts was established in the Macedonian Assembly in 1967. Being the highest scientific, scholarly and artistic, institution in the country, the Academy has the aim of monitoring and stimulating the development and the promotion of the sciences and arts. The first 14 regular members of the Academy were elected in Ohrid - the cradle of Slavonic literacy, the city of St. Clement and St. Nahum - in the ancient Ohrid building "Urania", which is the present seat of the Ohrid Branch of the Academy. Academician Blaže Koneski was the first President-elect of the Academy. |
