Quite a few linguistic studies have been carried out to explore which mode of teacher's feedback on reading is more successful in helping students reduce the number of mistakes, errors, and issues students face acquiring reading. This study is considered to examine this issue in the context of mistakes students do acquiring reading skills in general, and in particular at the Gymnasium "Kuvendi i Lezhes" in Vitina , Kosovo. In this study thirty students of the 111 class will participate divided into two groups: one control and one experimental group with activities. During the course four topics will be dealt with; there will be given some assessment including reading text, reading common words in isolation and reading nonsense syllables that illustrate common phonetic skills. Passages will be taken from the books with known reading levels and using the grammar check features at the same time as well. In addition, a questionnaire will be given to students to show their altitude towards teacher's feedback. The result from this study will give useful implications for EFL high school teachers and students in Vitina, Kosovo. This study may help English teachers to resolve the common issues of reading, how and what to correct to improve students reading skills.

Record link: https://library.seeu.edu.mk/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=20088 Copies

During this research there are used two methods mainly: descriptive and empirical methods, a questionnaire consisted of 10 questions, direct observation form and interviews. The participants in this study are Albanian native speakers learning English as a foreign language in two different English courses in Kosovo. The first group of participants with a number of 25 people came from the “The Cambridge School” in Ferizaj and Gjilan, Kosovo. The second group of participants also with 25 people was from Prishtina more specifically from the “ New Age School”, Kosovo. The participants are selected from different groups because what we are mainly focused on is the age of the participants, not the level of study. And their ages are from 19-40 years old because the study is focused on learning a foreign language in adulthood. Also, for the observation part, the students are a group of women who work in the administration of the local government of Ferizaj and their average age was 25-35. To be more precise for the results, an interview was made with eight different candidates. The candidates are third year students of Psychology, Sociology, Business and Management departments, age 25 to 32 and one of the candidates is a second year student of fashion design school, age 20. They all have have different backgrounds and different fields of study, that made the research more interesting. In the end, I summarized all the findings for the highlighted points or hypothesis and bring up a conclusion for them and give some recommendations for the ones that are going to read my thesis. Smartphones and tablets have rapidly infiltrated all walks of life. Many children bring their experiences of using digital devices in the home to the classroom and there is a pressing need to understand the mobile literacies associated with such devices and they role that they play on the lives of children. This thesis intends to provide evidence regarding young children just starting to learn to read at an early stage of emergent literacy. Its aim is to investigate young children’s engagement with mobile apps and to explore conditions that engage children with such interventions and further to understand how children learn throughout the engagement process in an informal learning setting. The study is carried out using a qualitative approach by observing young children’s nteractions with 9 selected mobile apps (e-storybooks, gaming apps and creating mobile apps) all categorized under educational purposes. Parts of the experiment are 20 preschoolers aged 4-6 years, coming from the private school “Britannica” located in Peje/Kosovo. Participants were recorded and observed and the data was analyzed using a thematic approach to examine children’s emergent behaviors when engaging with mobile apps. Also a survey questionnaire was sent to parents to gather information about their children’s use of technology. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to an understanding of pedagogic principles for effective early literacy instruction, as well as suggest suitable features in choosing appropriate mobile apps for certain age group of children. Pandemics and lockdown raised the need of online teaching and the use of digital platforms in every level of education worldwide. English language teachers had to adapt themselves to the online teaching, which brought its obstacles almost in all areas of teaching process. Among those difficulties, the evaluation and grading of students’ speaking skills motivated us to research and share our experiences for better solutions in the online EFL classroom. This study aims to investigate the diverse ways to approach assessment objectively by using certain assessment criteria and methods in the online classroom. The participants of this study were 91 Middle School students of Maarif International Schools in Tetovo, particularly students from 6th grade to the 9th grade. The participants were divided in two groups, group A was assessed by live online presentations while group B by recorded video presentations which were sent to MS Teams platform where they also got feedback on their oral proficiency presentations. The assessment was based on the criteria set by McKay (2007) and Taufiqulloh (2009), i.e. grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, intonation, relevance to the topic and fluency. This thesis used both quantitative and qualitative method of gathering data while the students were assessed according to the analytic grading rubric designed by Taufiqulloh (2009), where the lowest point was 1 and the highest was 5 points per each criterion. The findings of this thesis are supposed to improve understanding of implications and limitations for speaking skills’ assessment in online education and further research in this field. Abstract
Link for e-copy: https://repository.seeu.edu.mk/sites/thesis/ThesisSharedDocs/MA_112749.pdf Record link: https://library.seeu.edu.mk/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=20121 Copies
